Social

The Rowing Club We're a friendly bunch and make an effort to get together socially from time to time, to raise money or just for fun, and usually stay for a chat after meetings in The Friendship Inn.

If you want to know what's going on - or even better, make something happen - let us know!

Christmas Meal 11th Dec 2009

At the last meeting we decided that we should have a Christmas do at Boulders in Borth again. For those of you who didn't come last year, we had a choice of 3 dishes for a main course, a choice of desserts and coffee. I think everyone agreed that it was great food and a good night out. Obviously if you don't want to come along that's fine too - just let me know so that I don't keep pestering you :0)

Lake Bala Event 29th Nov 2009

The idea is to make this an inter-club, and possibly make it a monthly event over the winter. Dave T is organising and will contact the lake warden, just to make sure they dont object to a party of 4 or more rowing boats turning up.

Borth Hall Event 7th Nov 2009

A few of us attended the event at the Borth Hall on 7th November 2009 to commemorate 10 years since the opening of the Hall.

The bands were 'Aberjazz' and 'FreeBeer'. It was a really good night with plenty of dancing to some 'Rock n Roll' favourites.

Borth Carnival 2009

The Club normally enters a float in the Borth Carnival, which takes place each year on the first Friday of August. This year we entered a Pirate Ship called the 'Black Crow'. Thanks to all those who helped to prepare the boat and to those who pushed and collected money on the route. We had a slight problem with the bunting in Borth, as our masts were on the high side, but we worked out a method and got through town alright. I've added some pictures on our Facebook Group and to our Gallery.

There are some more photos of the Carnival loaded on Windows Live at Ieuan's Windows Live pages

Easter Dance 2008

We held a dance at the Borth Community Hall on March 22nd 2008 featuring local bands Whiskey Before Breakfast and Freefall. The music was great and everyone seemed to have a good time dancing and generally enjoying the evening.

Whiskey Before Breakfast has been playing in and around Ceredigion for 12 years. Now a three piece, featuring fiddle, guitar and drums, their up-beat Celtic music and covers of old favourites get your feet tapping and your heart racing.

Freefall are a young band, but boast mature musical styles that blend jazz and funk, with a tight rhythmic drive and blazing brass section. They offer a foot-tapping alternative to the distorted guitars of stereotypical teenage music.
